2 ATVs stolen from Carns Equipment

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — Police in Lawrence Township are investigating a theft at a recreational vehicle dealership in Clearfield County. Police said a man driving a black truck loaded two ATVs into a large white enclosed trailer from Carns Equipment, located on Clearfield Shawville Highway. The theft took place around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Chief Douglas Clark said the man stole the ATVs within a matter of minutes. Clark said police believe the truck was from out of state.

The Dunnings Creek Friends Meeting, a local Quaker meeting, hosted journalist and author Cody McDevitt of Somerset as the first speaker in their ‘Still Listening’ guest speaker series on local history in September. McDevitt spoke about his book,"Banished From Johnstown: Racist Backlash in Western Pennsylvania," which tells the story of one of the worst civil rights injustices in the history of our state. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The man convicted of attempting to kidnap then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and attacking her husband with a hammer was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison. Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley handed down the sentence for David DePape, 44, whom jurors found guilty last November of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official. Prosecutors had asked for a 40-year prison term.
