Frat association continues to reject PSU's claim to Beta Theta Pi

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — The Beta Theta Pi fraternity house on Penn State’s campus has been empty for a while now after the university banned the fraternity following the hazing event that led to the death of Timothy Piazza. The association that owns the site did use the frat house after Piazza's death, and they also say they've been in negotiations with Penn State about selling the house. It’s now a court case, with the association continuing to reject the university's attempts to claim the property.

Child survives after father fatally jumps from bridge onto Indiana Toll Road

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WSBT) — An Indiana man is dead and his 3-year-old son is expected to survive after police say the man jumped from a bridge over the state toll road early Wednesday. Police say that witnesses found a vehicle on the Main Street bridge in Mishawaka and later saw a man holding child. The 45-year-old man then jumped off the bridge. One of the witnesses tried to stop the man from jumping from the bridge to the toll road underneath, but was unable to because of the loose clothing he was wearing.

Detainee escapes Moshannon Valley ICE processing center, caught 90 minutes later, officials say

Philipsburg, PA — Authorities with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reported Friday that a detainee escaped from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, in Philipsburg, earlier this week. Officials say the "non-citizen" was reportedly captured 90 minutes after the escape on Tuesday night. State police say troopers located the escapee approximately two miles from the facility. Authorities noted that the individual does not have any "violent or sexual offense convictions.

Man killed following officer-involved shooting in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WCAU) — Authorities in Allentown say an officer shot and killed a 20-year-old man during an exchange of gunfire Friday night. Police say it all began when officers witnessed an assault on the street. Investigators say the officers then chased the suspect, who reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers.
