Popular area band to perform at Jennerstown Speedway

SOMERSET CO, Pa (WJAC) — The popular area band The Clarks will perform at Jennerstown Speedway Saturday night following the conclusion of the races. General admission tickets are $15 for adults, and children 12 and under are free. Additional VIP concert tickets can be purchased at the Speedway for $10. Lightning strike causes power outage at Walmart in Richland Township

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) – A lightning strike caused the Walmart in Richland Township to close Saturday night. A spokesperson says a transformer in the back of the store was struck by lightning, causing the store to lose power. They are working to repair the damage. The store has refrigerated trucks on site to keep all the refrigerated items fresh. There were no injuries, but the store will remain closed until repairs can be made.

Visitors have the opportunity to visit the display and purchase raffle tickets for various prizes, that have been donated by local businesses. All of the funds raised will benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society. The fundraiser was created after one employee was able to adopt a dog from the shelter several years ago, during the holidays.

2 dead, 28 injured including 15 minors, after mass shooting at South Baltimore block party

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Gunfire that erupted during a block party early Sunday morning left two people dead and 28 others injured, according to Baltimore City Police. Police said they were still looking for the suspects. Metro Crime Stoppers released the identities of the two victims killed in the incident. Officials say Kylis Fagbemi, 20, and Aaliyah Gonzales, 18, were both fatally shot. Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said out of the 28 other victims, at least 15 were minors.

Centre Co. man charged for shooting black bear on his property; animal later euthanized

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A Centre County man is facing charges after admitting to shooting a black bear that was on his property on March 31, according to a state game warden. According to the criminal complaint, officials arrived at his house on the 400 block of Sheldon Street in Sandy Ridge after receiving a report of a big game violation. Officials say that, upon arriving at the scene, Sheldon Sharpless, 87, admitted to shooting the bear after hearing a noise in his backyard and finding the bear destroying his bird feeders and eating the seed inside.

Local physician assistant partners with AAPA for mental health education in US schools
