'Watch your back:' Altoona man threatened to extort, kill local bar owner, police say

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Altoona Police say a Blair County man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened to kill and extort a local bar owner. According to the affidavit, 52-year-old Ryan Hollingsworth reportedly visited McGarvey's Bar, located in the Juniata section of the city, and asked to speak with the owner. Police noted that, according to the owner, the two have known each other for a couple decades. Investigators say Hollingsworth claimed that the owner had stolen a winning lottery ticket from him, years ago, and used the money to purchase the bar.

State funding will help DelGrosso Foods expand operations, double pasta sauce production

TIPTON, Pa. (WJAC) — Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday that DelGrosso Foods will receive $1.5 million to help expand manufacturing operations in Blair County. The Pennsylvania-based company, the oldest family-owned pasta sauce producer in the United States, will convert a 166,000 square-foot vacant facility in Antis Township into an expanded pasta sauce manufacturing space which will allow the company to double its production. “DelGrosso Foods is a nationally recognized food manufacturer known by many Pennsylvanians, whether in the grocery store aisle or at home in our kitchens, and it has supplied consumers across the country with its trusted products for decades,” said Gov.

Additional flight to Pittsburgh coming to DuBois Regional Airport

REYNOLDSVILLE - An additional flight to Pittsburgh International Airport from Jefferson County will soon be available for passengers. Southern Airways announced it'll be adding a midday flight to Pittsburgh from DuBois Regional Airport (DUJ) starting Thursday. Airport Manager Bob Shaffer said there will now be flights to Pittsburgh every two hours on weekdays. Shaffer said the change was made due to feedback from flyers and hopes it will help increase ridership.

Ohio man killed, woman injured in head-on crash in Indiana County

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Indiana County say an Ohio man was killed late Wednesday night in a two-vehicle, head-on crash along Route 422 in Armstrong Township. Authorities say troopers were dispatched to the crash scene around 11:45 p.m. Police say the driver of a Toyota Matrix, identified as 56-year-old John Kieger, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Kieger was killed when the driver of a Jeep Wrangler, a 17-year-old Shelocta woman, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck his vehicle head-on.
